West San Jose NJB is an all-volunteer organization.

We have the following open positions and need volunteers to fill these for this year and beyond.

Rebate at the end of season:

West San Jose NJB is not paying its board members a salary. If a board member has a child playing on NJB and paid for the NLP/division/rookie fee he/she will receive the following volunteer rebate (offsetting a part of his/her cost) at the end of the season:

*** A voting board member will receive the equivalent of one child NLP, division or rookie fee he/she has paid for. If the volunteer parent has two or more children in the program the highest of the fees will be rebated. No all-star or all-net payments will be rebated.

** A non-voting board member will receive ½ of the equivalent of one child division or rookie fee he/she has paid for.  If the volunteer parent has two or more children in the program the highest of the fees will be rebated 50%. No all-star or all-net payments will be rebated.

Chapter Director reports to the Section Director for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate Chapter within Section; Attend Sectional and Chapter BOD meetings; Communicate Section activities to Chapter; Review/Approve Player Waivers; Review/Approve Team Binders. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

President reports to the Chapter Director for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate Chapter Operations; Conduct Chapter BOD meetings; Appoint/hire non-voting members of BOD. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Vice President reports to the President for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate all Winter Programs (Rookie; Division 3; Division 2; Division 1; All-Net; High School); Coordinate Skills Clinics; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Treasurer reports to the President for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Create/Manage Chapter budget; Manage Deposits and Payments; Coordinate Sponsors; Coordinate Chapter Financial Statement; Coordinate Tax filings; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Secretary reports to the President for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate Chapter/Section/National communication; Maintain/Distribute Chapter BOD meeting minutes; Secure insurance certificates from National; Coordinate Chapter Web-Site; Coordinate Registration; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Girls Player Agent reports to the President for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Ensure welfare of female players at all times; Mediate disputes between coaches and players; Coordinate evaluations/tryouts; Coordinate team selection; Coordinate All-Star selection; Manage team rosters; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Boys Player Agent reports to the President for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Ensure welfare of male players at all times; Mediate disputes between coaches and players; Coordinate evaluations/tryouts; Coordinate team selection; Coordinate All-Star selection; Manage team rosters; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Operations Manager reports to the President for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate Facilities; Coordinate Equipment; Coordinate Special Events; Coordinate Game Days (Staff and Payroll); Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Fundraising Manager reports to the President for a term of 2 years and is Voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate Chapter/Team sponsors; Provide sponsors with requested information and recognition (web-site listing, plaque w/team picture); Coordinate Chapter fundraising activities; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~0 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Division 3 Boys Coordinator reports to the Vice President for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate program for 3rd and 4th grade players to develop beginning basketball skills in a competitive game environment; Establish Team Staff (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Scorekeeper, Team Parent); Support Player Evaluations/Tryouts; Support Team Selection; Support All-Star Selection; Coordinate Team Binder Certifications; Act as primary liaison between Team Staff and Chapter BOD; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Division 2 Boys Coordinator reports to the Vice President for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate program for 5th and 6th grade players to develop beginning to intermediate basketball skills in a competitive game environment; Establish Team Staff (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Scorekeeper, Team Parent); Support Player Evaluations/Tryouts; Support Team Selection; Support All-Star Selection; Coordinate Team Binder Certifications; Act as primary liaison between Team Staff and Chapter BOD; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Division 1 Boys Coordinator reports to the Vice President for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate program for 7th and 8th grade players to develop intermediate to advanced basketball skills in a competitive game environment; Establish Team Staff (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Scorekeeper, Team Parent); Support Player Evaluations/Tryouts; Support Team Selection; Support All-Star Selection; Coordinate Team Binder Certifications; Act as primary liaison between Team Staff and Chapter BOD; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Division Girls Coordinator coordinates all the girls divisions and reports to the Vice President for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate program for 7th and 8th grade players to develop intermediate to advanced basketball skills in a competitive game environment; Establish Team Staff (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Scorekeeper, Team Parent); Support Player Evaluations/Tryouts; Support Team Selection; Support All-Star Selection; Coordinate Team Binder Certifications; Act as primary liaison between Team Staff and Chapter BOD; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

All-Net Coordinator reports to the Vice President for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate program for 5th thru 8th grade players to develop intermediate to advanced basketball skills in a competitive game environment; Establish Team Staff (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Scorekeeper, Team Parent); Support Player Evaluations/Tryouts; Support Team Selection; Coordinate Team Binder Certifications; Act as primary liaison between Team Staff and Chapter BOD; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

High School Coordinator reports to the Vice President for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate program for 9th and 12th grade players to develop intermediate to advanced basketball skills in a competitive game environment; Establish Team Staff (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Scorekeeper, Team Parent); Support Player Evaluations/Tryouts; Support Team Selection; Coordinate Team Binder Certifications; Act as primary liaison between Team Staff and Chapter BOD; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Rookie Program Coordinator reports to the Vice President for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: In early Summer, contact local sports academies, colleges and other sports organizations and recruit coaches to run the clinics and scrimmages. Depending on response, get commitments and schedule each participating organization for the appropriate number of Saturday sessions. Participating organizations will be represented on the West San Jose NJB website and will be allowed to market to participating players and families. An minimum ratio of coaches/organizers to players (tbd by board) will be required. Once season begins, manage schedule to ensure the participating organizations meet their commitments. Periodically attend the sessions to ensure the participating organizations are meeting expectations and that the player experience is positive. Provide periodic board updates at regularly scheduled board meetings. Manage parent, player and coach communication and ensure any issues are resolved quickly or brought to board attention in a timely manner. Prepare a post season wrap-up highlighting successes, challenges and changes for next season.

Web-Site Coordinator reports to the Secretary for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinate Chapter Web-Site; Send Chapter Emails; Maintain Chapter calendar; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Registration Coordinator reports to the Secretary for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Support on-line registration for players and volunteers; Support team pages; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~2 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~2 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – May).

Schedule Coordinator reports to the Operations Manager for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Schedule gym time for all Chapter activities; Schedule team practices within NJB and Chapter guidelines; Ensure practice time parity within Player Programs; Attend Chapter BOD meetings. Time required is estimated at: ~1 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Season, (August – December); ~1 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – April).

Head Coach reports to the Program Coordinator for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Evaluate players; Draft team; Coach practices; Coach games; Report player issues/injuries to Player Agent; Support Program Coordinator requests. Time required is estimated at: ~4 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (October – December); ~7 hrs/week during Season, (October – December); ~7 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – April).

Assistant Coach reports to the Program Coordinator for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Support Coach during Practices and Games; Serve as Coach during Head Coach absence; Support Program Coordinator requests. Time required is estimated at: ~4 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (November – December); ~7 hrs/week during Season, (November – December); ~7 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – April).

Uniform Coordinator reports to the Program Coordinator for a term of 1 year and is non-voting member of the board. Responsibilities include: Coordinating the purchase, lettering and distribution of uniforms to the teams at the beginning of the season, distribution of All Star jerseys, and collecting all uniforms at the end of the season. Time required is estimated at: ~4 hrs/week during Pre-Season, (October-November); ~1 hr/week during Season, (November – January); ~4 hrs/week during Post-Season, (February – March).
